The Friends and Family Test

Important Notice

The NHS Friends and Family Test (FFT) helps the NHS know if patients are happy with the care they receive, or if there are things that need to get better. It’s a fast and anonymous way for you to share your thoughts after getting care or treatment in the NHS.

Filling Out The FTT Form

You’ll be asked: “How likely are you to recommend our service to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?”

You can choose from “extremely likely” to “extremely unlikely.” You can also explain your answer with comments, and sometimes you’ll be asked more questions. This helps providers know what’s working and what needs improvement.

Do You Have To Respond To The Question?

Your answer is optional. But if you do answer, it helps the service learn what we’re doing well and where we can improve. Right now, about 9 out of 10 patients say they’d recommend the service they’ve used, which tells us our work is valued.

Your response is anonymous, and your details won’t be shared with anyone. If you can’t answer, a friend or family member can do it for you.

How Will The Results Be Used?

Your feedback will help us understand your experience better – what you appreciate and where we can do better. Ultimately, your input helps us make improvements for better care.

More information on the Friends and Family Test can be found in the Patient Guide here.
