Weight loss groups
There any many organisations that can help you lose weight. No one approach has been shown to be superior. Losing weight slowly with long-term changes in the way you eat and exercise will help the weight stay off.

The Active 4 Life Physical Activity Referral Scheme is open to those over 16 with certain health problems. GPs can refer them to a suitably qualified Leisure Consultant at one of 4 local leisure facilities for a 12 week programme of support, monitoring and motivation. Staff will advise on the benefits of healthy living and plan a tailored programme of physical activity.
Qualifying conditions include controlled high blood pressure, asthma, diabetes, muscle and joint problems, smoking or heavy alcohol use, mental health problems and others.
If you feel you may be eligible and want to be referred please see a GP.
Additionally many local Leisure Centres offer exercise classes designed for beginners that are open to non-members. The Aspire Leisure Centre has a swimming pool with ramped access for people with mobility problems.
Free, led walks, which aims to help everyone get outdoors, get more active and reap the benefits. The nearest walk starts from King George Recreation Ground most Thursdays at 1030 but there are walks across Hertfordshire.
