Register With Us

We’re happy to welcome new patient registrations.

Please use the postcode checker and map below to see if your address is within our immediate boundary or whether you can register as an Out of Area patient.

New Patient Registrations at Manor View Practice

Anyone in England can register with a GP surgery. It’s free to register.

You do not need proof of address or immigration status, ID or an NHS number.

GP surgeries can treat many conditions and give health advice. They can also refer you to other NHS services.

Practice Boundary

We’re glad to welcome new patients who live within our practice boundary. Please use the map below to see if your address is within our service area. Just enter your postcode to confirm eligibility. If you move outside our boundary, you may be able to stay registered, but we cannot provide home visits.

Register With Us

Please fill out the online registration form that applies to you. It’s quick and easy and should take about 10 minutes to complete.

You don’t need to provide proof of ID to register with a GP, but having one or more of the following documents might be helpful:

  • Passport
  • Birth certificate
  • HC2 certificate
  • Rough sleepers’ identity badge
  • Hostel or accommodation registration or mail forwarding letter

If you’re homeless, you can provide a temporary address, such as a friend’s address, a day centre, or the GP surgery address.

Registering Your New Baby

To register your new baby at the practice, please complete an online form or request a paper copy from reception and return it to us as soon as possible. Make sure to provide your baby’s NHS Number, which can be found in their Red Book. Once we receive the form, we will register your baby as a patient at this Practice.

You will receive an appointment for a 6-8 week baby check. Your baby’s routine immunisations will start at 8 weeks, so please book this after attending the 6-8 week check. Remember to bring the Red Book to all your baby’s appointments. If you cannot make the appointment, please notify reception as soon as possible.

If You Need Help Registering With Us

If you need help registering or filling in forms, call the GP surgery and let them know.

You could also ask for help from:

  • local organisations – for example if you’re homeless you could ask a centre that supports homeless people
  • Citizens Advice
  • your local Healthwatch

Who We Can And Cannot Register

We welcome new patients who live within our practice boundary area.  If you’re unsure whether your address is included, please use our Practice Boundary Checker or speak to our reception team before completing your registration form.

We Can Register

  • Patients who live within our boundary area.

  • Patients moving into the area from another GP practice.

  • Existing patients who have moved outside our area, where it is clinically appropriate and the patient understands that home visits may not be available.

We Cannot Register

We may not be able to register new patients in the following situations:

  • If you live outside our practice boundary and do not meet our Out of Area criteria.

  • In rare circumstances, where there has been a breakdown in the doctor–patient relationship and it is agreed that it is in everyone’s best interest for you to register elsewhere.

For national guidance on GP registration, please visit the BMA website

Our Commitment To You

At Manor View Practice, we believe in mutual respect, kindness, and open communication between patients and staff.
Our approach to behaviour, dignity, and equality is set out in the Patient Charter which explains what you can expect from us, and what we ask from you in return.

Out Of Area Patients

If you move outside our practice boundary but wish to remain registered:

  • We will assess whether it is clinically appropriate for you to stay on our list.

  • You must agree to attend the surgery for appointments, as we cannot provide home visits outside our area.

You can read more about this in the Patient Charter.

Changing GP Surgeries

You can change your GP surgery if you need to.

This might be because:

  • you have moved
  • you have had problems with your current practice
  • you were removed from the patient list

Please let us know promptly if you change address especially if you move outside our boundary, so we can advise you about ongoing care and home-visit eligibility.

Temporary Resident

Using our practice if you’re not registered with us is simple. You can contact any GP surgery if you need treatment, especially if:

  • You’re away from home.
  • You’re not registered with a GP surgery.
  • It’s a medical emergency.

If you need treatment for more than 14 days, you might need to register as a temporary resident or permanent patient.

You can register as a temporary resident for up to 3 months. You’ll still be registered with your usual GP surgery if you have one.

Manor View Practice welcomes patients who are temporarily resident in the practice area for medical advice. If you need treatment, please inform reception that you’re a temporary resident when you arrive.

To register as a temporary patient at the practice please visit our Temporary Resident page

Registering With A GP Under The Mental Capacity Act

The Mental Capacity Act (MCA) is designed to protect and empower people over 16 who are unable to make decisions about their care and treatment.

If a person is unable to register with a GP because they cannot make decisions about their care, registration can be done by:

  • a relative
  • the main carer
  • a lasting power of attorney
  • a person appointed by a court under the Mental Capacity Act

Named Accountable GP For All Patients

At Manor View Practice, every patient has a named doctor who is responsible for their care and support. If you prefer to see a different doctor, you’re free to continue doing so just as before.

We have a team of clinicians who can speak multiple languages, including Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, Urdu, Bengali, and Polish. Our appointment times are designed to accommodate everyone’s needs.

Proxy Access

Proxy Access allows someone other than the patient to access and manage parts of their GP online services account. The proxy receives their own online access account, separate from the patient’s login details. It’s commonly used by parents or recognised carers of young children, as well as recognised carers of adults.

To grant access to authorised care staff, agreement must be reached among the resident/patient or their representative, the care home, and the patient’s GP practice. Access is typically given from the date of admission to the care home, but longer retrospective access can be granted if agreed upon by the GP and deemed beneficial to the resident.

GP practices can configure their clinical systems to allow access to specific elements of the GP records, agreed upon locally. Care home staff cannot see anything that the GP practice does not permit. However, if a resident does want care home staff to have proxy access to any part of their record, including requesting repeat medicines, the care home must follow established procedures and continue to work with paper records.
