Blood Test Service At Manor View Practice

Manor View Practice offers a convenient blood test service through our skilled phlebotomists (healthcare professionals trained in drawing blood).  Below are the key details about getting a blood test at the practice.

Booking A Blood Test

Your clinician at Manor View Practice will recommend a blood test if needed to check your overall health or diagnose/monitor a specific condition. In most cases, they will book the blood test appointment for you directly:

  • During your consultation, your clinician will order the required blood tests.
  • They will then schedule your appointment with one of our phlebotomists for a convenient time.
  • Your appointment details will be provided to you before you leave.

In some situations, you may need to book the blood test yourself after it has been ordered by your clinician. You can book using one of these options:

  • Use our online Patient Access portal to view available appointments and book directly.
  • Call the practice during opening hours.
  • Book in person at your next appointment.

If you need to reschedule or have any questions, our friendly staff will be happy to assist you over the phone or at your next visit.

Preparing For Your Blood Test

In most cases, no special preparation is required for a routine blood test. However, your GP or phlebotomist may provide specific instructions, such as:

  • Fasting (avoiding food and drink except water) for a certain period before the test.
  • Temporarily stopping certain medications that could interfere with results.

If you have a fear of needles or difficulty with blood draws, please let us know so we can make you as comfortable as possible during the procedure.

During The Blood Test

Our experienced phlebotomists will draw your blood sample from a vein, typically in your arm. The process is quick and only involves a small needle prick. We have private rooms available for added comfort and privacy.

After your blood is collected, it will be sent to our lab for analysis. Your GP will review the results and discuss any findings with you.

Let us know if you have any other questions! We’re here to ensure a smooth and stress-free experience for all your blood test needs at Manor View Practice.

After The Blood Test

Once your blood sample is collected, it will be sent to our lab for analysis. You can expect:

  • Only minor side effects like slight bruising or dizziness immediately after.
  • Your GP will review the results once available, usually within a few days.
  • Your GP will go over the results with you at, either at your next appointment or over the phone, and explain what they mean for your health.
  • If any results are abnormal, your GP will recommend appropriate next steps, such as additional testing, treatment, or lifestyle changes.
