Callowland Surgery Founded
The Callowland Surgery was founded in 1906 and has always been based in Watford. Its current site, Manor View Practice at Callowland is a converted school house, situated on the site of an original school house from 1901.
Introduction of the NHS
As the NHS was introduced in 1948, practices in Bushey tried to come together to ensure provision of the new services on offer. Manor View Practice’s origins date back to two practices in Bushey at this time of great change. These practices were situated in Bushey High Street and Park Avenue.
Dr Rodney Parker
The essence of Manor View Practice started with Dr Rodney Parker who started working from his home in 1962.
Converted Premises
In approximately 1965 Dr Parker moved the practice into a specially converted house on the corner of Koh-I-Noor Avenue, Bushey.
New Ideas
Bushey Health Centre
Dr Parker and Partners moved to the newly built Bushey Health Centre in 1981 as the ‘Parker Practice’.
Manor View Practice
As Dr Parker retired it was decided that a new name should be given to the surgery and Manor View Practice was chosen as the building overlooked the old Bushey Manor School.
New Premises - Current Site
Manor View Practice moved to its current brand new premises. A completely new site with upgraded facilities.
Two Practices Merge
Manor View Practice and Callowland Surgery merged in February 2019 to offer better quality of care to patients in Bushey and Watford. The merger enabled the partnership to offer greater levels of service over the two sites in Bushey and Watford.
